Fire Tae Kwon Do Academy is a traditional Martial Arts school focused on on the core tenants of Tae Kwon Do. We offer both physical fitness and competitive sports based training. Each of our instructors have a wealth of decades of Martial Arts Experience.

  • Master Rafael Nivar

    Master Rafael Nivar

    7th Dan Tae Kwon Do

    Doctor Nivar is a 7 th degree Black belt Master with the US Cung Do Kwan association. Master Nivar began his career in the traditional art of Tae Kwon Do in his birth country of the Dominican Republic Upon Moving to America to pursue his medical education Rafael Joined The Warriors Hall Of Tae Kwon Do in Marion Ohio, where he completed his black belt Training under the Tutelage of Masters Robert Hopkins and James Prater. Mister Nivar later began training with Grand Master Edward Sells and Master Brenda Sells as a part of the U.S. Chung Do Kwan Association and received both his Masters rank from the U.S. Chung Do Kwan as well as his Kukkiwan certificate from Korea. Master Nivar is a traditional Tae Kwon do practitioner who believes in a sound Body and robust spirit following the core Tenants of Tae Kwon do; Courtesy, Integrity, Self Control, Perseverance and an Indomitable spirit.

  • Master Robert Hopkins

    4th Dan Tae Kwon Do

    Mister Hopkins Began his career in the Martial arts of Issinryu Karate at the age of 12. He attained Black belts in several styles of Karate including Issinryu, American Style, and Shotokan karate. While serving in the U.S. Army he began the study of Tae Kwon Do under Master Han and Dennis Litton at the U.S. Tae Kwon Do Academy of Silver Springs Maryland. This is where he met his wife and fellow practitioner, Jessica Hopkins. Upon leaving the Army with Honorable Discharge both Continued to practice Tae Kwon Do where Master Hopkins attained the rank of 4th degree in Tae Kwon do, and was the cofounder, with Master James Prater, of Warriors Hall of Tae Kwon do which was a pillar in the Martial arts community of Ohio. In 2004 Master Hopkins was named Coach of the year with the U.S.A. International Blackbelt Hall of fame by Legendary Grand Master Don Madden, for his work with the AKJU in international competition as part of the U.S. Karate team. Mister Hopkins also was recognized for Martial Arts Dedication in 2005 by the same Hall of Fame. Master Hopkins also holds a Black Belt In Tomiki Aikido From the International Aikido Alliance under Master Mark Kitridge and Rita Javarino.

  • Louis French

    2nd Dan Tae Kwon Do

    Mister French, who started late in life, is a long time student of Master Nivar. Mister French holds a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do under the U.S. Chung Do Kwan Association, and the World Tae Kwon Do Federation with 11+ years of experience. Mister French also specializes in Staff, Enscrimna Sticks, sword and other weapons under Mister Hopkins Kubodo training, Mister French adds his own flare with a juggling background.

  • Jessica Hopkins

    Jessica Hopkins

    2nd Dan Tae Kwon Do

    Mrs. Hopkins began her martial arts journey while serving in the U.S. Navy under Master Hopkins in the art of American Occidental Karate in 1986. She later joined Mister Hopkins in the art of Tae Kwon Do under Mister Dennis Litton and Master Han of the U.S. Tae Kwon Do center in Washington D.C. Martial arts has been a part of her life ever since. She excels at children’s classes and is an excellent instructor of the fundamentals of the arts teaching both tradition and mechanics with similar ease. Mrs. Hopkins was selected as a member of the 2001 Team America international Karate team after winning Grand Champion under Grand Master Don Madden. Mrs. Hopkins has trained extensively in the art of Kenjutsu under Master Hopkins as well as The Sword Experience under Adrian Paul.

  • Nathan Heizer

    Nathan Heizer

    1st Dan Tae Kwon Do

    Mister Heizer began his career in the martial arts under Master Hopkins at the age of 6 years old. He achieved his Black Belt in Tae Kwon do at the age of 12 and has continued his training well into his adult years. Mister Heizer focuses on Mechanical details and fundamentals of the art, particularly in the Poomse or Hyung, commonly known as Kata. Mister Heizer has trained extensively in the art of Kenjutsu under Master Hopkins as well as The Sword Experience under Adrian Paul.

  • Casey Williams

    Casey Williams

    1st Dan Tae Kwon Do

    Mister Williams began his martial arts career under Mister Tom King and later trained with Master James Prater, Master Hopkins and other instructors with the Warriors Hall of Tae Kwon Do. Case began his training at around 12 years of age and continued to train his entire life. Mister Williams is an outstanding fighter and martial artist with strong kicking and punching skills that continue to serve him well both in tournament fighting and as he embarks on the journey of passing his own brand of Tae Kwon Do to the next generation of martial artists including his own son Raylan. Mister Williams is also the current substitute Instructor at the Marion WOPAT YMCA.

  • Willie Howard

    Willie Howard

    2nd Dan Shotokan Karate

    Mister Howard began his Martial Arts career under John Baker in Okinawan Kempo Karate, under the supervision of Master Roy Taylor. After Mister Baker closed his school Willie joined Warriors Hall Of Tae Kwon Do under Master James Prater, Master Hopkins and other instructors. Mister Howard excelled in fighting with a focus on hands that began with his Kempo background. Mister Howard trained to the rank of 1st Dan in Karate under Eric Pohlabel, where Mister Howard was assistant instructor of Mind Over Body Martial Arts. Upon rejoining Mister Hopkins, he continued his pursuit of the traditional art of Shotokan Karate and earned his 2nd Dan. Mister Howard is active with his three sons who compete in Tournaments run by Central Ohio Independent League (COIL) Martial Arts Tournament circuit where he competes and acts as a regular judge. Mister Howard also practices Kenjutsu under Master Robert Hopkins.
